The Woodland Path sketch is from Max’s memory. Often he would go for walks in Fletcher Moss, Didsbury and the sketch is indicative of the small woods there.
There is a whole collection of pen and pencil sketches here on his website. As well as being a wonderful cartoonist, Max was fairly serious about landscapes, abstract and all other forms of creative artwork and worked in all medias. Some of his work is a little on the dark side. The cartoons demonstrated the opposite lighthearted side of Max and all is here to see.
