Inner Temple is a Pen and Ink drawing by Max. The scene is from Max’s imagination but probably inspired by a visit to some of the old gothic churches. In this drawing he is exploring the use of hatching to create the darker areas, rather than shade. Then using a some unique coloured ink to accent the drawing. I think the style and colour congers up a very arabic atmosphere.

As well as being a wonderful cartoonist, Max was fairly serious about landscapes, abstract and all other forms of creative artwork and worked in all medias. Some of his work is a little on the dark side. The cartoons demonstrated the opposite lighthearted side of Max and all is here to see.
